Kelp and Ice
Two seasonal explorations; one in summer studying the forms and patterns of kelp and seaweed at low tide, the other in winter examining the structures of ice formations. As well as a synergy of the two, as an ebbing tide leaves kelp encased in sea water.

Commission from Maine Magazine for an article on Tide Mills Farms. A nine generation dairy farm outside of Machias Maine. Three current generations live on the land; raising families, tending dairy cattle and poultry. All the while making due with the hardscrabble existence that is living in downeast Maine.
